At Providence Baptist Church, we believe the Sunday School ministry is a vital part of our fellowship. It is uniquely equipped to cater to the individual needs of our congregation: assisting them in growth, building lasting friendships and supporting one another in prayer. It is the ultimate small group!
Providence Baptist has organized our Sunday School ministry with one primary objective. That objective is to glorify the Lord. We have identified 3 main purposes of the Sunday School and have learned that when these purposes are fulfilled the Lord is truly glorified. We want to reach others with the Gospel through the work of the Sunday School. Reaching out into the community at large and bring them to a vibrant relationship with the Lord Jesus. We desire to teach the men, women and children in our care the life changing principles of God’s Word. Our goal is to equip them through careful study and practical, real life application of the Bible. As we ‘do life together’ we seek to minister to one another, sharing one another’s burdens, encouraging one another, loving one another as Jesus has loved us. We are learning the powerful impact of developing a reaching, teaching and ministering Sunday School ministry. We invite you to join us on this journey of discovery.
Children’s Sunday School
Our youngest class is for children in Pre-K through 3rd grade. This class is taught by Mrs. Aleyes Baker. Alyese is an educator by profession and has served this local community in the elementary schools for many years. She is well equipped and versatile in teaching styles that capture the attention and imagination of her pupils. Greater still, she has a genuine love for the boys and girls in her class.
Our next class is for children grades 4th-6th. This class is taught by Mrs. Glenda Christensen. Glenda has three children of her own and has served many years in the Sunday School ministry. She has a zeal for teaching God’s Word and labors to bring the Bible alive for the young people in her care. We are thrilled to have her as part of our Sunday School team.
Youth Group
The Providence Baptist Youth group is made up of young people in grades 7th-12th. Our Youth Ministry is impacting the lives of these young people and cultivating tomorrow’s leaders today. We focus on teaching the Bible in a way that is easy to understand and ready to be applied to ‘teen life’. Activities are also vitally important and they happen on a regular basis. These fun events build friendships and strengthen the youth group as a whole.
Adult Sunday Classes
We are blessed to have two Mixed Adult Classes. The first is lead by Mr. Mike Parish. Brother Mike is a gifted teacher with years of experience. This class meets in the main auditorium of the church. His approach is verse by verse, expository teaching. Class members benefit from his knowledge and personal study of the Bible.
The second mixed adult class is lead by Randy Summers and meets in the Family Life Center. Brother Randy is a gifted teacher of God’s Word. He takes a conversational approach to Bible study. Class members are encouraged to share their thoughts and contribute to the study. This has proved to be an effective way to bring perspective and life to the topics they are considering.
Providence Baptist Church also has a Young Adult Sunday School Class. This is a mixed group of single and married young adults lead by husband and wife team, Daniel and Misty. Together they study God’s Word, discover His heart and mind on topics relevant to them.
